First Aid is a Crafting skill used to treat the player's injuries. It is one of the newer skills, along with Electrical, Fishing, Trapping, and Foraging. As the skill level increases, the player will be able to treat wounds faster, make better bandages, understand more ailments and spot infections. Experience is gained by players treating themselves or other players.

Usage

Treatment is carried out by right clicking on the body in the health status window, or right clicking the health status text if injuries are present. Treatment requires materials, even basic ones such as Ripped Sheets and/or Bourbon. Injuries are indicated by bleeding and/or injured moodles. First Aid will not reduce or change the chance of zombification from a zombie scratch or bite.

First Aid Flow

There are four types of injuries, basic treatment for any injury is a clean Bandage.png and maintaining it, optionally but suggested to keep the chance of infection at bay with link = # bottle of disinfectant. Treatment is also painful most of the time, even as the player's First Aid skill increases in level.

  • (Foreign matter such as a bullet or glass shard removed by link = # removed)
link = # disinfection used to disinfect and link = # bandage used to stop bleeding.
The link = # bandage should be cleaned with water in the inventory if it gets dirty.
  • Injury with severe bleeding (deep wounds).
(Foreign matter such as a bullet or glass shard removed by link = # removed)
link = # disinfection used to disinfect, link = # suture used to stitch the wound and then link = # bandage applied.
The link = # bandage should be cleaned with water in the inventory if it gets dirty.
  • A fracture is treated with a link = # splints.
The fracture should be link = # disinfection disinfected and have a link = # bandage applied as well.
The link = # bandage should be cleaned with water in the inventory if it gets dirty.
  • A burn should be treated like a normal injury, link = # disinfection disinfected and link = # bandage applied.
Burns take much longer to heal than normal injuries.
The link = # bandage should be cleaned with water in the inventory if it gets dirty.

Items

Bandages

Bandages are used to treat injuries of the player, and will stop the player from bleeding. Bandages are disposable, but can be cleaned by washing them with a water container in the player's inventory.

Suture

Surgical suture (also known as stitches) or suture is a medical procedure used to hold together a wound after an injury or surgery. The usage involves using a suture needle with sterile lengths of thread to stitch the wound closed. The material of the suture thread varies, and are commonly absorbable by the body for full healing.

Disinfection

Injuries and bandages/ripped sheets can be sterilized using Bottle of Disinfectant, Bourbon, Cotton Balls, or Alcohol Wipes, and disinfecting injuries will decrease the chance of an infection occurring. Infected wounds cause health loss and pain. The risk of infection is greater if the player does not disinfect the wound and/or bandages being applied.
