Lucky and Unlucky

does anyone know what those traits do exactly, i played every char since 0017 with either of them, they seem to influence the item spawn, maybe the player spawn location, but not the infection chance.

- got scratched 5times with unlucky, still not infected

- it took me a week to find any real-weapon(hammer in this case, had a pan and dozens of knifes&forks before) with unlucky

- took me nerly one month tho find a saw, a sledgehammer and an axe even after clearing ~300 zombies and 2 of the smaller storagebuildings with unlucky

i cant tell much about lucky, just that i found everything important way faster, but i got spawned near the big storagehouse both times i had this perk so it maybe affects the spawn too?

I'm not completely sure either, I've been meaning to see if I can find some code for the traits. The best you can do is just run some experiments to see if your hypothesis is correct. --Connall (talk) 12:49, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

i think all of these trait descriptions need to be investigated

literally the first four trait descriptions from this page that i investigated turned out to be inaccurate, so it's probably likely that a lot more are also inaccurate

Thick Skinned - this does not decrease the chance for clothing to be damaged by trees

Thin Skinned - this does not increase the chance for clothing to be damaged by trees, also the chance to not be injured by zombies is not multiplied by 0.7, it's divided by 1.3 (this is different)

Graceful - the claimed 90% multiplier is made up, it's an additive -10% chance to get tripped, also should be clearer that "lunging zombies" means the fence/window lunge attack, also it affects the chance to trip from running into zombies by -5%

Clumsy - same as graceful, the claimed 110% multiplier is made up, it's an additive +10% chance to get tripped, etc

something to note is that the descriptions for Graceful and Clumsy on this page used to be more accurate, but somebody changed the numbers for whatever reason

here's something i typed up about all the effects of thick and thin skinned: https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/10lrbm7

i haven't written anything about graceful and clumsy, but it's pretty much just as convoluted, there's lots of other variables to trip chance

I can only speak to the thick / thin skinned but you're absolutely right. I took a look through the code again and honestly don't know how I beansed it up so badly the first time. I agree that what you've described is the correct effect of those traits.

i wanna try to look through more of the traits, though it's a pretty daunting task, the thick/thin skinned and clumsy/graceful traits alone took a lot of time to understand, and i could also just as easily make mistakes in reading the decompiled code

would it even be worth it to have complete descriptions of each trait in that table? some of the traits have effects that are way too convoluted and would seem like their effects are better off described in a separate article
i'd assume that most people that read this article really just want short and concise descriptions of each trait

Positive/Hobbies/Negative

Is there a reason why the traits are organized like this, instead of as just Positive and Negative? They’re organized as Positive or Negative when creating a character (currently, at least?), and the additional category makes it that much more complicated to find the one you’re looking for. Are there any objections to changing it? If it would help, there could be a new column to mark “hobby” traits. --Red-Unicorn (talk) 00:14, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

I don't remember the exact reasoning for it being this way, I think it was something to do with the way profession traits work. Some traits are obtained with an occupation, while others are through the trait picker, and some are both. I think that it makes sense to all be in Positive or Negative, so I'm happy with the change. So long as it's clear if they're obtained through the occupation. Maybe the wording "Occupation" can be changed, so it can include the recipe magazine required. - Vaileasys (talk) Wiki Administrator 01:56, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
