Various crop growth stages
Step 1: Collecting Materials
The city is likely to run out of food sometime or another- perhaps you've lived off of the meager scraps of food for months until now. But now, the city has little to offer. Your only option is to farm. You'll need a trowel, a Watering Can or gardening spray can, and some seeds to start farming. Consider stocking up on Skill books of all levels, since these will help you improve your farming.
- Prepare the ground:
- Make sure the trowel is in the main inventory, right click on a nearby section of land, and then select "dig".
- A patch of selectable dirt with three furrows should appear.
- Use the trowel on a SECURE outdoor location (which is far away from zombies, and preferably, has a defensive wall around it).
- Open the Seed PacketFile:Carrot Seeds Packet.png
- Right click on the seeds you wish to sow, and select "open seed packet."
- Make sure your loose seeds are in your MAIN inventory (not a bag)
- Check your water, it should be in your MAIN inventory.
- Right click on the dug up ground, you should see the option to "SOW"
- If the name of the plant is RED a mouse over will tell you why it cannot be built (water or seeds)
- If the option is WHITE- plant and enjoy!
- Water your plants every now and then so that it doesn't die. Or if you're low on water, just rely on rain (note: It's not a good idea in the long term).
- When your crop is ready to harvest (several weeks have gone by), just pick your plant and enjoy your food.
- You can use fertilizer as well to speed up the process
If farming were that simple, it'd be too easy.
The Dangers
- Your immediate problem is the constant threat of zombies.
- Zombies can trample your crops and force your hard work (and water) into waste.
- Keep zombies away from crop!
- Zombies may go inside some of your nearly-grown crops and may try to ambush you
- Try to plant in a secure location and always check for zombies in your crops before turning your backs to the crop
- Crawlers (the zombies that crawl on the ground rather than walk around) may go unseen in almost-fully grown crops
- Try to farm in a secure location. Always check for them before tending to your crops.
- Your next problem is disease.
- Create/Start the cures/countermeasures whenever it is necessary because you won't want them.
- Also, try to start farming in the spring or the summer. In the winter, you won't get too much crop in the cold.
- Forgetting to water crops is not copacetic to their health.

Seed Requirment for sowing
I have tried to make table of the diffent crops, with the optimal water, average days until harvestand the required amount of seeds.. but my wiki-fu is weak so if anyone will make the table better, go ahead and edit it.
