Moodles

A Moodle is an indicator of what emotional and physical effects your character is currently feeling, similar to status effects in roleplaying games. There are currently seventeen moodles in the game.

List of Moodles

File:Moodle bleeding.png Bleeding

The character is losing blood from an open wound, and therefore losing health. The severity levels - judged by the intensity of the moodle background colour - dictate how quickly the character is losing vitality. This moodle can be removed by using bandages.

The character is bored from remaining indoors for too long. This moodle can be removed by reading books or magazines, or spending time outdoors.

This moodle was implemented in a test version, but was removed for the released version and is being reworked.

The character has contracted a cold from prolonged exposure to the elements. Periodic sneezing will make noise, the sound of which can be dampened with tissue.

The character has passed away.

The character has drank too much alcohol. When drunk the character will struggle to walk in a straight line. Accuracy is also diminished. This moodle will disappear over time, with sleep speeding up the process.

The character is tired from running or exerting themselves. This moodle can be removed by stopping to rest, or by walking instead of running. Being encumbered, even slightly, can increase the rate at which the player exerts himself.

The character is becoming exhausted.
High Exertion
"Can't Run"
The character is very exhausted.
Excessive Exertion
"Can barely walk"
The character is extremely exhausted. Usually happens after running a very far distance or when the character is very encumbered.

Moodle heavyLoad.png Encumbered

The character is carrying too much and is moving slower. This moodle can be removed by dropping things, or by consuming proper items. Note that items cannot be dropped currently, but can be placed in containers. The total weight assumes you have no other positive or negative moodles.

The character is encumbered.
Heavy Load

"Movement speed reduced"
The character is very encumbered.

The character is extremely encumbered.

Total Weight: 301+
"Movement speed highly reduced, causing back injury"
The character is extremely encumbered, walking causes major health loss.

This moodle represents the character's hunger state. A red background dictates that the character needs to eat food. A green background shows that the character is well fed. Being fed boosts strength and healing rate, depending on the amount of food consumed.

The character is hungry.
Very Hungry
"Severely Reduced strength & Healing"
The character is very hungry and will need a big meal to satiate their hunger.
Starving
"Very weak, health dropping"
The character is extremely hungry and will perish unless they eat.

The character is not hungry, for now. The player heals faster and their strength is increased.
Fed
"Healing & strength boost"
The character is full. The player heals faster and their strength is increased.
Well Fed
"Long healing & strength boost"
The character is very full. The player heals faster and their strength is increased.
Very Well Fed
"Very long healing & strength boost"
The character is completely full and will not be hungry for a long while. The player heals faster and their strength is increased.

The character is in pain, from a wound or other injuries. This moodle can be removed by using painkillers. The level of pain is more or less consistent which the severity of the character's injuries. The player cannot sleep in "Severe Pain" or worse.

The character is in only slight pain.
Pain

The character is in a moderate amount of pain.
Severe Pain

The character is in severe pain.
Agony
"Speed & Accuracy severely reduced"
The character is in complete agony.

The character is panicking at the sight or sound of zombies. This moodle can be removed and prevented temporarily by using beta blockers or anti-depressants. Bourbon also quickly removes the panicked moodles, although it also makes the character tired. The player can not sleep if they have a panic moodle.

The character has contracted the zombie disease through either a scratch or a bite (scratches only have a 1/4 chance of actually infecting the player, while bites are a guaranteed infection). Unlike other moodles, Sickness cannot be removed and slowly progresses through increasing levels of severity, which means that, no matter how well prepared the character is, he will always succumb to the disease, one way or another.
Queasy
"Take things easy"
The character is beginning to feel ill.
Nauseous
"Strength & healing reduced"
The character is beginning to feel the effects of the virus.
Sick
"Strength & healing severely reduced"
The character is infected with the zombie virus, it is only a matter of time before they succumb to zombification.
Fever
"Strength & healing severely reduced, slowly dying"
The character has nearly succumbed to the virus now.

The character has stayed awake for extended periods of time and, as a result, he is becoming increasingly unaware of the environment. This moodle can be removed by sleeping.
Drowsy
"Have a lie down"
The character is slightly fatigued from being awake for too long.
Tired
"Awareness reduced"
The character has became fatigued from being awake for too long.
Very Tired
"Awareness severely reduced"
The character is very fatigued from being awake for far too long.
Exhausted
"Will pass out"
The character is extremely fatigued.

This moodle can be removed by going indoors out of the rain for a while.
Damp
"Get out of the rain"
The character is slightly wet from being in the rain for too long.
Wet
"Speed slightly reduced"
The character is somewhat wet from being in the rain for too long and moves a little slower.
Soaking
"Speed reduced & chance of catching a cold"
The character is very wet from being in the rain for too long and may become sick as a result.
Drenched
"Speed severely reduced & high chance of catching a cold"
The character is extremely wet from being in the rain for too long and is likely to become sick as a result.

The character has been infected by a zombie and subsequently changed into one.

Future Moodles

The game's files show that moodles may come in positive or negative flavours, suggesting that characters may have their morale boosted or experience happy emotions.

As of v1.05, characters will also experience boredom and depression [1].
