There are two main types of weapons, Melee and Ranged.

Melee weapons

Melee weapons are generally quieter to use than ranged weapons. They also do not require any ammo. The downside to melee weapons is that the player must be very close to the target and if you swing too much you will get tired.

Many melee weapons will also provide a knockback effect, which pushes enemies away from you, causing them to stagger and slow down until they regain their balance.

Ranged weapons

Ranged weapons require ammo. They are also usually loud to use which will attract the attention of nearby zombies. The upside to this is that they are very powerful and can be used to attack at range.
