A CD is used to reduce boredom.
Overview
A CD is used in conjunction with a ValuTech PortaDisc or Premium Technologies Radio to entertain the player. CDs feature various music and audiobooks from the world of Project Zomboid. Most retail CDs are parodies of songs from the early 1990s and function solely to reduce the player character's boredom, and produce some light amusement in the player. The back cover of every CD has both author and production or description information.
Location
The loot distributions can be found in the table(s) below.
Effective chance calculations are based off of default 'apocalypse' loot settings, with no luck modifier, and average zombie density. The higher the density of zombies in an area, the higher the effective chance of an item spawning. Chance is also influenced by the lucky and unlucky traits. Duplicate entries do exist, but have been removed for clarity.

Trivia
- The reflective surface of a CD is actually on the top, layered onto the polycarbonate body of the disc. CDs, along with cassette tapes (not present in-game), were ubiquitous during the time of the game's setting. They replaced vinyl records and were themselves mostly replaced by internet music streaming services.
- There is a bug where, on occasion, whenever the game spawns a CD within a wearable container (e.g. School Bag), the CD may end up not having any content on it, rendering it unplayable and appearing only as "CD." Clicking on the item itself will result in a single error being raised.
