The Exclusion Zone border is a large, fenced off area, separating Louisville from the Exclusion Zone. It mainly consists of multiple military checkpoints and refugee camps of various sizes.
Overview
Primary military checkpoint
- Main article: Louisville border camp
The largest checkpoint within the border, but also one of the easiest one to get to without any tools, either by breaking fenced gates, armored doors, or thought the broken fence to the East. The checkpoint itself has loads of containers and military chests, with firearms, medicament or military gear. Within the checkpoint, there is an interviewing booth, where General John McGrew, Professor Jake Wilson and many other notable figures possibly gave their speech. It is also one of the easiest ways to level up electrical skill, since it has loads of various electronics items. Border camp has almost no useful loot in it, apart from tents and generators. It is one of the few places where the metal drum can be found.
Military houses
To the east of the main border camp is a small, half-burned neighborhood. Within the fence, four houses used by the military can be found. Multiple houses outside the border are burnt down, probably by the army. Furniture can be found near each house, possibly moved to make more space for their use. There isn't that much loot, apart from firearms and medical items. Furniture and electronic devices can be disassembled to level up their respective skills.
Small military checkpoints
- Main article: Small military checkpoints
Two smaller military checkpoints can be found within the border to the east. They are before and after the burnt town. These are completely fenced off from the Valley Station side, necessitating the sledgehammer's destroy function or metalworking. However, they can easily be accessed from the Louisville side via openable gate. They consist of three tents, one is used as a barracks with a chest near each bed with various military gear, the second tent is used to store firearms, and the third is for communications. Small refugee camps can be found either by themself, or near houses close to the border.
Burnt town
- Main article: Burnt town
The burnt town is a small, unnamed town that was burned down before the Knox Event. It's unclear whether it was intentionally incinerated by the military or due to some disaster. It has a military tower with a small amount of office items and firearms. There isn't much left to salvage within town. There is also a small, burnt mobile home park not so far from it.
