Remaining Questions

After some research, I filled out a lot of extra info about radios. Here are some questions I haven't definitively answered. If anyone else knows the answers off-hand, please edit.

  • If a radio began as "furniture" in some house and was never moved, does it still use a battery, or wall power? (I know that a radio placed as furniture uses a battery.) Confirmed: Radios always use batteries, unlike televisions.
  • Can radios ever be powered by a generator?
  • Are radios completely silent to the outside world with earbuds or headph-nes?
  • Does a radio with earbuds or headph-nes impact the listener's awareness of their surroundings?
  • Does a radio's volume affect its attractiveness to zombies?
  • Are the products of dismantling a given model of radio always the same, or randomized?
  • How does one find a frequency other than the four commercial stations that has anything on it? Dumb luck? Is there any such thing as an automated scanner? (If not, there should be. A scanner probably saved my life once.)
  • Finally, why can't I spell the words "headph-nes" or "microph-ne" in this article without triggering a spam filter? Kind of puts a cramp on it...

Todo

  • Add every default preset to list (assuming there are more, i've yet to find any others).
  • Add list of hidden presets(?)/frequencies. I wasn't even aware these existed, It'd be nice to catalog them.
Note: There appears to be still no way to find hidden channels. Furthermore, I can't seem to find confirmation they even exist.
New Note: A fresh, untouched military walkie talkie had an 'unknown frequency' right after spawning. A few static bzzrts and then nothing. Frequency was 107.6 MHz, just barely inside the commercial band (88-108MHz). Possibly unrelated to the hidden channels, nothing was ever heard on it before the battery died (IWBUMS 41).
Newer Note: Found a walkie talkie with '91.2 MHz Civilian Radio' on it. Very possible I added that, though occasional voices were heard despite being in singleplayer. No subtitles. Gunshot event occurred immediately after, though I doubt it's related. --FamiliarBreakfast (talk) 02:25, 11 April 2020 (BST)
  • Determine if walkie talkies spawn in singleplayer (IWBUMS 41) Yep they do.
