Generator Article

Hey there Savenger,

Just want to say thanks for the work on the Generator article. It was one of the sticking points on this side on the changes since it was implemented. I've never had time to even try one out so its hard to write about something you dont know about!

I've attached it to the relevant categories and did the finishing touches.

Cheers!

Hey there Malony,

Thank you for the mention. I was playing PZ mostly with friends for a while and would pop in here to get quick answers I would need and I had noticed the information was outdated or missing in general. I decided to make an account and tried out editing a wiki page for the first ever time.

I wanna keep doing it here and there for pages that are missing but I don't understand most of the specifics;
-Like where to find the sprite to upload for the page
-Or make the tables relevant to the item like how to craft

Overall, I'll try for now to look at other pages as hints. (Also just noticed the boilerplates mention at the bottom of the Help page)

Hey Savenger,

It's genuinely appreciated, many aspects of PZ are better understood individually by many people but not all, thus the need for the wiki!

Unfortunately due to word block issues a fair amount of the wiki started going out of date, as well as the occasional locked pages. You'll find words like n.umber and s.upport cannot be entered in a article so if it is in a previous written article you have to remove the word or change it. This of course makes it difficult if you're doing a article on say, the cellp.hone!

To answer your questions though:

1) Sprites

To find the sprites, you'll need to do a search function but in a different manner.

When you type into the search box in the top right, type the word, but instead of hitting enter or using the magnifying glass, click on the dropdown for "Words containing #".

Say for instance searching for the word Apple (ignore the link being red) it would bring you to this page. You would then need to click on "Multimedia" in the tabs to find it. However, this is dependant on if someone has already uploading the image to the wiki and named it correctly. If a image has been uploaded but hasnt been used, you can also find the image in the "Unused" section of the wiki, which is here: (Link here)

Otherwise the image has to be uploaded from the relevant .pack file in the zomboid media folder using software than can "unpack" the file. Not the easiest job to find.

2) Tables

A fair amount of the constructed wiki tables have already been set up but have not been updated. The one on the generator page was just a custom setup. I'm going to have a word with Connall later relating to the Editing page as that needs badly reviewing but is currently locked.

The Recipe page, which is throughout the wiki showing how certain items are constructed, like a door frame, is in the Recipe Lookup Template which contains all the recorded items back when it was created. Be careful to not edit the Document display page and not the template itself when editing it.

*Edit*: Just realised the door frame page doesnt have one! Lamp on Pillar does though.

If you need help understanding how to use the tables, I'd have to take a bit of time typing how to use the templates, I unfortunately learned through trial and error when I was bringing the food section up to date and theres no written guide at the moment for usage, however you can see on the source info of many pages how they are generally set up.

Let me know if you have any problems.
