Minimum System Requirements?

No idea what you're asking. That's got nothing to do with me. System requirements are indicated at the point of purchase.

Template RecipeLookup

Hey, thanks again for your help. What do you think about this:

http://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:RecipeLookup#How_to_edit_existing_recipes

Might be a bit overkill, but at least now it is foolproof.

Arya (talk)

Hey Arya,

Yeah it looks good. I was thinking of doing something similar earlier.

Uploading a new version of an image

I'm having trouble with that ^

After I upload a new version it won't update the file (although the new uploads appear in View History). Did that happen to you before?

Arya (talk) 21:16, 14 May 2018 (BST)

Hey Arya,

That's a common issue. Your browser saves the image to speed up load times of frequently visited webpages.

All you have to do is refresh the cache by hitting CTRL + F5 if you're using chrome.

See this article for more info: Bypass your cache.

EDIT: It will also take a while for the new image to appear in the file history, I've noticed it usually takes about an hour. I can only assume that's to give admins an opportunity to remove any inappropriate uploads before they're released to the public. - 07:02, 15 May 2018 (BST)

- Vaileasys 06:56, 15 May 2018 (BST)

Hey. Actually, we've got a cache system in front of the servers, which upside, lets us not pay a tonn of money for hosting. Downside, images take up to an hour to appear. So, win some, loose some! On a different note, @Vaileasys, can you drop me an email; kirrus@theindiestone.com please, would like to have a quick chat :) Kirrus (talk) 23:47, 15 May 2018 (BST)

=== Personnel File: Correspondence 13th June 2018 ===

Hey Vaileasys

The New Wiki Editor

Just thought I'd pop on for a hour and correct a few pages since I had a hour to kill.

Just want to say thanks for continuing and improving on what I started relating to navigation and cataloguing a long while back. The Wiki is looking great, and I must admit the Navigation table looks FAR better with those colours.

Cheers man and thanks for putting the effort in.

MalonyJenkins (talk) 01:13, 13 June 2018 (BST)

Hey, I was wondering when you might be popping by.

You definitely set up a good foundation for the navigation, I've just made a few changes to some of the categories. The navigation table though, I wasn't too sure about my changes to the design, but the feedback is appreciated.

I've made some other big changes you might stumble across the next time you navigate through the wiki, along with some even bigger plans... ;)

All my changes I'd run by other editors, but sadly there's very few of us.

Item distribution grammar

I've noticed that on the pages which include an item's distribution, every word in each container is capitalized (e.g. "Male Corpse", "Clothing Rack"). Is this correct, or should only the first word of each be capitalized?
- Simian

Capitalisation has been an issue for a while. My rule of thumb is to have any item (or object) name written the same as it is in-game, unless it's part of a sentence. I've been using the Minecraft style guide and other game wikis as a reference. The whole capitalisation thing is still a bit blurry, so if you suggest having it a particular way, we can add it to the Help:Style guide (which by the way should probably be "Style guide").
- Vaileasys 06:55, 14 July 2018 (BST)

Plurality in item descriptions

Pages that describe items refer to the item in one of three ways: *an* (item), *the* (item), or (items). I suggest that a standard be implemented, particularly the first one.
-Simian

I'm on board with making that change. The only issue I have with it is if the item name is plural, such as grapes, which would have to be: grapes, rather than a grape. So I'll add something to the Help:Style guide that mentions to use the singular form of an item, unless the official display name is plural. By the way, feel free to fix any grammar on the Help:Style guide, just be sure that any changes you make are clear and concise with little to no ambiguity.
- Vaileasys 11:25, 15 July 2018 (BST)

Hunger info in nutritional information

Besides the ones I've edited, several non-perishable items describe the bonuses to hunger and unhappiness given by the item under the section heading "Nutritional information", such as this one. However, this same information is repeated in the page's infobox, which is right next to the section. Would it be alright to continue removing the sentences and reserve that section for the Calorie information? (This does not apply to perishable food due to those having different hunger amounts based on the food's freshness.)
- Simian

Yeah go for it. I'll be coming through all the food pages and updating them to the new layout and infobox at some point anyway.
- Vaileasys 07:05, 26 July 2018 (BST)

Berries with a negative nutrition value

On the recipes page Evolved recipes under the Food-in-Recipe Values/ Fruit, ONLY the berries show negative values (-10/-15). Should this be changed, or is there really something complete different with berries in PZ? I know it's confusing, because PZ Wiki is quite inconsistent with "hunger" and "hunger reduction" and in this case it even adds one more term: "Food-in-Recipe Value".

BTW: at the mushrooms page there is the phrase "Adding a Poisonous Berry as an ingredient...". Shouldn't it read "a poisonous mushroom"?

Nii P. (talk) 21:40, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

Sorry about the delay, haven't had the chance to do much on the wiki lately. I've gone ahead and fixed those. If you come across any more issues like that in the future, feel free to go ahead and change them to what you believe they should be. Leaving a brief summary will be enough.

Hi

I'm ?!X!?. My real name is Dove. I have read the about section, privacy and the disclaimers section to learn more about this website. Is there anything else that I need to know? Are there any more pages for me to read? If so, I will read them. I have never played this game before, so I know nothing about the project's main focus on this game. But, I do know how to edit wikis and stuff like that. Even though I may never play this game, I can still learn about the game and study everything that I may need to know, like watching YouTube videos on the game, if necessary. I have to admit, I am not a gamer, well, I am, but I only play non-violence games such as anything related to LEGO. Great wiki anyway and I can't wait to be part of this community. Who is in charge of this site? Who is the creator of this site? I'd like to say hello to them! --?!X!? (talk) 22:16, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi ?!X!?, I'm happy to see someone new. I'm the one that frequents the wiki the most, making the majority of major edits/changes. I'd recommend joining the Discord server, which is where we communicate the most (in the pzwiki channel). In there you'll easily be able to contact 'Connal', the wiki manager, and 'Kirrus', the server manager. I'd also recommend having a read of the style guide and community portal if you haven't already.
- Vaileasys (talk) Wiki Administrator 02:11, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

Thanks!

I don't know if you're a person or a bot fixing some of my articles, but I wanted you to know I appreciate it!!! Thank you!!! --Spacew00t (talk) 23:51, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

No problem. I'm a person... I mostly just fix articles these days, i.e. keep things neat, consistent and accessible. Thanks for contributing to the wiki. If you need anything, feel free to ping me on the community discord https://discord.gg/theindiestone or message Vaileasys#6215 - Vaileasys (talk) Wiki Administrator 10:12, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Redirects change link text

Hey Vaileasys, I've noticed something going on around the Wiki across many articles. If you look at my most recent change on Survivor, you'll see what it is that I mean. Perhaps there was a discussion on whether or not to change it to do this that has taken place, but personally, I've seen it do more harm than good (but I guess I don't really remember it without.)

I guess I'm not necessarily asking for it to be changed, just to potentially see a discussion about it. I just don't know where to do that :(

- Thing II (talk) 01:14, 9 April 2021 (BST)

Hi Thing II,
That was changed with the last update to the MediaWiki software (approx. 2 years ago now), it wasn't an intentional to my knowledge. I plan to bring it up with Kirrus during the next software update. Personally, I prefer it the way it was prior to the update, and is what everyone would be used to from other wikis.
- Vaileasys (talk) Wiki Administrator 09:08, 11 April 2021 (BST)
As someone who edits a lot of Wikis, I'm with Vaileasys on that one. —Faalagorn/ 19:57, 12 April 2021 (BST)
Seems we're all in agreement then if Vaileasys and Kirrus can get it back. Thing II (talk) 04:57, 14 April 2021 (BST)

Food in the build 41 project

Hey there! When checking the build 41 update project I realized there is no food on the list! Considering several food got added to the game recently (Which are articles I'm currently working on, but they need formatting and obtaining of several textures) I believe it would be an important topic to cover, so maybe you can add it to the list of the project. Currently working in the shrimp and oyster articles, was doing some testing this morning, I have several screenshots.

Thank you in advance

Sure! I'll add it shortly. Not sure on the list of foods. But I'll see what I have. - Vaileasys (talk) Wiki Administrator 09:08, 6 March 2022 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for adding the food list! However, may you add the following? I've noticed that peas, dried black beans, dried chick peas, dried kidney peas, dried lentils, dried split peas and dried white peans are missing. Also, an article for Oysters already exists, but it is named oyster. May you add a redirect to it?

Thank you for all your help, and thanks in advance!

I've noticed there's a few more I've missed. I'll have to take a closer look and see what else is missing. - Vaileasys (talk) Wiki Administrator 07:39, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Keep up the good work

I see you're one of the two active editors here. Just wanted to say thank you for updating this wiki and for all your hard work. Kenji 03 (talk) 12:56, 12 June 2023 (BST)

Hey, Thanks! We've noticed you frequenting through lately also, which is very much appreciated. If you use Discord, that's where most discussions take place, on the official server in the pzwiki_editing channel. - Vaileasys (talk) Wiki Administrator 13:13, 12 June 2023 (BST)
I'd join you all to chat on discord, but I refuse to give Discord as a company my phone number, so I cannot chat in the community. I've send you a direct message via discord though. Same user name there and here Kenji 03 (talk) 08:09, 24 June 2023 (BST)

logos

Pizza Whirled Logo.png

How do you find and extract these logo's? Ikip (talk) 14:07, 19 September 2023 (BST)

A lot of the ones I uploaded were recreated manually. Others like the Pizza Whirled logo were taken from the world sprites, and then I warped the perspective. I used PZ Unpacker and stitched the sprites together, but I think you can also get them from TileZed. I'm not happy with the result of these ones (image editing isn't my strong suit). You may also find some in the vehicle textures, which you'll just have to crop, although they'll be a lower resolution. These were all created a couple of years ago, I just found them recently and thought I'd upload. - Vaileasys (talk) Wiki Administrator 03:03, 22 September 2023 (BST)
I was able to extract the images, now it takes forever to stictch the logos together and they are diagonal, whereas your logos are better and flat.
thank you so much for the response. How do you go about stictching items together automatically? I do it by hand and it is very slow.
Also how do you warp the logos? The files in the game folders are always diagonal and not straight, like your signs are straight. Ikip (talk) 17:47, 22 September 2023 (BST)
I did it by hand too, which was very slow and tedious, I wouldn't know how to do it automatically. You're looking for 'perspective warp'. This seems to be easy in photoshop. But I used Paint.net, which was very rough and tedious, but I can't remember what the tool was called that I used.
There was talk in one of the dev blogs about recreating the logos in an upsacled non-isometric view for fliers and newspaper snippets. So if you find it's taking a lot of time, it may be worth waiting to see what gets released. I hope this helps. - Vaileasys (talk) Wiki Administrator 03:37, 23 September 2023 (BST)

Survival Guide

Survival Guide should be added to the main page prominently. Also the main page talk page should be editable by everyone. I would have added this to that page, but only admins can edit that talk page. thanks in advance. Ikip (talk) 22:19, 26 September 2023 (BST)

The "Game Mechanics" heading under "Gameplay" is a link to Survival Guide. We'll have to see about making that more obvious. I wasn't aware of the talk page being protected, so I've changed that. Looks like it got caught in the crossfire after a spam attack we had in 2017. Thanks for letting me know! - Vaileasys (talk) Wiki Administrator 11:02, 27 September 2023 (BST)
thank you:
removed protection from Talk:Main Page
i think survival guide is easier to understand. thanks! Ikip (talk) 11:38, 27 September 2023 (BST)

A Thank You

Hey man, I wanted to make it "official" by typing stuff here, I know we have Discord but yeah. I wanted to thank you for being excruciatingly helpful, at all times basically. Your aid and guidance is much appreciated. Especially when it comes to complex templates that I literally can't do anything about. Also nice of you to create the Turkish side of the wiki and main page a year ago (being really swift about it). Additionaly I appreciate what Calvy and You have been doing with the automated item pages for other languages. I myself am grateful for the Turkish side of things ofcourse. So much more can be talked about but yes, thats it, take care brother. Ksilem (talk) 15:05, 16 September 2024 (BST)

Thanks man, that's really nice of you. I do what I can to help those that need it, and to make the wiki better for everyone. Your appreciation is truly heartwarming. - Vaileasys (talk) 14:17, 17 September 2024 (BST)

Headgear

Regarding this item category, I have a few questions. I would like to make a Headgear page, which has all the data about any piece of headgear, hats and helmets. Is this allowed? I shall try to use tables from similair page if possible.

Regarding the same subject, is using the foraging field in the template the right one for headgear? This is currently part of the media section. See Football Helmet as an example. If not, would it be possible that either you or someone else add a row for the foraging penalty of any piece of headgear?

--23dutch45man (talk) 15:26, 7 October 2024 (BST)

Edit: NVM, such a page already exists on the Clothing page. Second question still stands.

--23dutch45man (talk) 15:40, 7 October 2024 (BST)

Hey! The foraging value seems helpful and logical. I'd rather use that existing one than create a new row/param. If you're on discord, I brought it up here for discussion. But I think you're good to just go for it. - Vaileasys (talk) 09:59, 9 October 2024 (BST)
