How do you find areas on the map?

How do you find the exact location of a store or building on the map? I would like to add the exact cordinates to the hundred plus buildings i have added. Ikip (talk) 16:11, 14 September 2023 (BST)

you can use the map project. It's the unofficial map for the game. Just look up pz map project on a search engine. From there, you have to find the building or business you want, and then there is a little menu on the left side of your screen where you can display coordinates. Just copy and paste them into the coordinates section of the infobox building or business.

For multiple locations though, I'd suggest making a table and putting the coordinates in there as opposed to the infobox. However, you have to create a link to the map project manually in order for you to be able to click on the coordinates and open the map.

You can use the Time 4 Sport article I made recently as a reference. Just copy paste the table and add rows as you see fit. I'd you're still having trouble I can post an example in here for you to use.-ThinkDock1721

Just throwing two cents, the map is official for some time now, being hosted by TIS and author, blindcoder is hired by them. It is also linked in the sidebar, under "Map" :) —Faalagorn/ 14:41, 1 October 2023 (BST)
Interesting. thanks. Ikip (talk) 20:40, 1 October 2023 (BST)

Favor to ask: map expansion

Talk:Map If you have the current build, can you travel to the area in the west? Ikip (talk) 00:32, 20 October 2023 (BST)

yeah that area isn't in the latest build yet. It's a WIP by the devs for a major map expansion. If you've made articles on businesses in there you may want to delete them. ThinkDock1721 (talk)
I'd say we could keep those articles if any, just add the {{Future}} template to it. —Faalagorn/ 11:00, 21 October 2023 (BST)
ah, you're always one step ahead of me. Great idea. ThinkDock1721 (talk)
WIP = Work in progress. The admin and another editor on the map talk page says they are in the game now. So I dont know. Ikip (talk) 12:20, 22 October 2023 (BST)

Question about removing the business (bail bonds) that shares the same building as ValuInsurance?

See: Talk:ValuInsurance Ikip (talk) 00:52, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

I usually do that to save space in the table sections. That section is more for a general approximation, like the area the place is in as well as approximation to bigger landmarks. That's why I use the LV PD HQ a lot there. If the viewer wants to see a more exact location they can just click the coordinates and check the map project anyway. Kinda pointless to have it in both sections. I don't like bloat.
Also regarding the muldraugh section in Knox Bank, I deleted that for the same reason. Having the loot section made that section redundant, as all loot across all knox banks is the same. That was leftover from a merge when the muldraugh locaion had its own page and is thus unnecessary. I'm also aiming to standardize all location articles, and those town specific sections don't fit in the standardized format.
I see the addition of material by editors of the past, especially if it is well written, as a valuable contribution to the wikipedia, not repetitive at all in most cases. I try to keep as much information as I can. I appreciate your point of view and edits when trying to fix and manage the wiki. good night/morning Ikip (talk) 02:31, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
I agree, and I usually try to base my edits off of what others wrote. But sometimes new additions make things redundant, and sometimes things need a rewrite is all. :) ThinkDock1721 (talk)

Why are you deleting the stores that a business is connect too in the same building?

Your additions to the businesses with multiple locations is welcome, and needed. I like how you are adding descriptions of where they chains are located.

RE: Food Market Conven-U-Mart and Family Fashion

You removed: ...in the same strip mall as Taco del Pancho, Liquorty-Split, and Gusto D'Italia.

Also:

...with ValuInsurance.

Also:

Next to Zlatko's.

Next to Burgers.

Next to Genteel-y Used. In the same building with Adult Education Center, Cafe (Muldraugh) and Liquorty-Split.

Same building as Keep Afloat Debt Consolidation, Emma's Eatery and Purrfect Barkner Pet Supplies.

I spent a lot of time adding these very specific locations. It is exhausting to have to have to re add what you continue to delete.

this is valuable information for a player and for editors. For example, sometimes I enter the wrong coordinates for the building, and these business names help me find where the building actually is located... I don't understand. Ikip (talk) 10:39, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

I assess the necessity of these on a case by case basis. Some of them I choose to leave in, but most of them I choose to remove. Oftentimes it's extra information that isn't necessary, and there are better ways to approximate locations than just saying what the location is next to. Just saying that a building is next to another building is not descriptive enough for a general location.
On top of that, when I do add a better description, the new description usually makes these descriptions unnecessary and redundant because of the more accurate one. For example, just saying a building is next to a burgers location does not tell the reader where in the town the building actually is. By adding that information, as well as approximation to major landmarks, the specific buildings the building is next to becomes irrelevant, since the reader can click on the coordinates and see those anyway. Plus, it adds length to the table sections, which then adjusts all section lengths and makes the table look very unwieldy and disproportionate.
You shouldn't be entering the wrong coordinates anyway. Coordinates are so so so important that you have to double-triple check everything.
I know you don't like deleting stuff, but having all this unnecessary info bloats the page and makes it look sloppy. Sometimes things get overwritten, especially with stub articles. I don't understand why it's such a big deal. It's just how a wiki operates.
ThinkDock1721 (talk)
The descriptions with this information is shorter then the images. There is no bloat. Adding a location in the town is helpful, but also stating where the location is, and what it is nearby, is also helpful. I will continue to revert your deletions, 90% of which locations that I found and added originally. Wasting my time. I respect other editors edits, and am a virulent inclusionists, and try to be inclusive and welcoming to all editors, especially new editors and people new to the game. It is very hurtful to me when I work on something a long time, and it is deleted. This is common on wikis, but it doesn't build communities, it stokes disillusionment and frustration. Ikip (talk) 15:45, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
That's why I always try to discuss with the admins or related editor before apply the change. He is the project leader and I think you should discuss this thought instead of adding things silently. I also think you two should come to a conclusion on this topic otherwise there will be a revision war. Maybe there is a better way to introduce the buildings nearby instead of simply adding a description. --Vibrance (talk) 15:59, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
I think it's because the descriptions are too long? I think Thinkdock explained it somewhere? —Faalagorn/ 19:13, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
