The Flame Trap, I have found, is best for taking out medium to large zombie hoards, especially the ones that arrive after a burglar alarm goes off. There are two general ways to use it. The first way is to stand around 10 meters away from the hoard, with the flame trap equipped as your primary weapon. Hold right click then left click to throw. This will cause an explosion of fire and will light tiles in a 5 meter radius from the landing spot. Watch out though, the zombies will start following you, and unless they walked through the flames, they will attack you. The zombies that are on fire will die around 30 seconds to 1 minute after being lit. The second method is to aggro all of the zombies that you wish to kill then through the flame trap out in front of you. This is risky but is perfect for making sure all zombies are lit on fire! Run through the flames without touching any of the actual fire. The zombies behind you aren't too smart and will walk through the burning grass, killing them around 1 minute later. This is a much more effective method of use for the flame trap but is very risky.

WARNING: This trap is extremely dangerous. Manly because of the fact that the fire will spread and if near any player built structures, will burn them down. Although it is a highly effective weapon, I suggest you only use it in a worst case scenario type situation.

In order to create the Flame Trap, or any other traps, you must have chosen the Engineer Job as your pre-apocalyptic career. Go to the crafting GUI (B) then go to the Engineer tab. If you don't see the Engineer tab then you have not chosen the Engineer profession. The Flame Trap uses 1 Empty Bottle, 1 Ripped Sheet, and 4 units of gasoline, making it a relatively cheap weapon. All of the ingredients are used in the process however, so be prepared to lose your water bottle.

Use

Warnings

WARNING: This trap is extremely dangerous. Manly because of the fact that the fire will spread and if near any player built structures, will burn them down. Although it is a highly effective weapon, I suggest you only use it in a worst case scenario type situation.
