Soup Ingredients are food items that can be added to a Pot of Soup or Pot of Stew to increase the hunger reduction of the soup recipe. Soup ingredients cannot be used with the Pot of Soup crafted from Canned Vegetable Soup.

Ingredients provide an amount of hunger reduction depending on the ingredient (for example, Potato provide 15, while Cabbage provides 10). Some ingredients will not be fully used when added to a soup or stew and a portion will remain in the player's inventory. Ingredients also provide boredom and unhappiness reduction: every ingredient adds -5 boredom/unhappiness the first time it is added. However boredom and unhappiness penalties will be added if a soup/stew contains 3 of the same ingredient.

Ingredients that have gone stale can still be used in soups and stews. Their reduced value of hunger reduction will be added to the soup, while the boredom and unhappiness penalties will not. This is a good way to extend the life of your perishable foods, and is one of the best uses of soups and stews.

Ingredients that have gone rotten can be used by players with cooking skill of 4 or 5. This will add a small amount of the hunger reduction but will not create rotten soup or stew; an expert chef can trim the rotten pieces off, saving any good parts. Skill level 4 allows <value unknown>% of the ingredient to be saved. Skill level 5 allows <value unknown>% of the ingredient to be saved.

Soup ingredients can consist of the following items:

Stew or Soup Specific:

Steak Beef Jerky Cheese Dry Ramen Noodles

Soup vs Stew: Steak and Beef Jerky can be used in stew, but not in soup. Cheese and Dry Ramen Noodles can be used in soup, but not in stew.
Otherwise, every ingredient behaves the same in both soup and stew. Soup takes 50 minutes to cook, whereas stew takes 70 minutes.
