Sprinting is an agility skill.
Overview
Experience is gained in random intervals while running (hold ⇧ Shift) and sprinting (press L. ALT). Note that if the player is too overexerted or overencumbered they may simply "power-walk" instead, but they can still gain sprinting experience while doing so. Zombies do not need to be nearby for the player to gain sprinting experience.
Skill effects
The sprinting skill affects how fast a character runs and sprints, including running while sneaking.
The speed increase is added (not multiplied) to movement speed, so it may not stack intuitively with other effects.
