Burglar Alarm is a potential challenge players may face when exploring buildings in Project Zomboid.
Danger
Tripping a Burglar Alarm triggers a deafening siren noise that emanates from the affected building. This happens when a player or a zombie breaches a house either through a door or window. In standard game settings, approximately 10% of all houses have this security feature. After a brief pause of three seconds, the alarm blares for roughly twenty in-game minutes, covering a sound radius of about 600 tiles—more than double the distance of the sound produced by a Sawed-off JS-2000 Shotgun. Given zombies' affinity for noises, large groups will flock towards the sound's origin.
Countermeasures
For now, there isn't a direct method to neutralize a triggered alarm. The safest strategy is to vacate the premises and nearby vicinity, expecting zombies to converge from all directions.
