Fishing

Fishing is a skill, and an activity that allows you to use a fishing rod combined with bait to catch fish. As Fishing levels improve, so does the quality of fish you are able to catch. This ability is a great way to feed yourself if you have decided to camp near the river, as a single fish could feed you for a day.

Mechanics

To begin fishing you must have a rod and some bait in your main inventory (not a bag) and right click on a river or lake to select the option. Fishing take about 5 seconds to complete. While fishing, the rod will occupy your main hand, and the bait will occupy your secondary, so you may want to leave any secondary bags at home, or at least make sure they are relatively unpacked.

Bait

There are three baits that you can use for fishing:

• Worms
• Lures
• Small fish

Worms are the most common bait to find. You can find them uncommonly while scavenging around the town, or you can find them frequently while digging with a trowel. So long as it's your selected bait, a worm will be consumed every time you fish, even if you fish up 'junk' like socks.

Lures you find far more infrequently than even worms while scavenging. Lures have a durability, unlike both worms and small fish, thus you can use them more than once, reducing the weight for the bait you need to bring.

Small fish are fish that you have a chance of obtaining while fishing. Aside from obtainment, small fish act as worms, and are consumed when used as bait.

Repairs

Quite often, your rod will lose it's line while fishing. To re-line your rod, you must have:

1. A nail or paperclip
2. String (Twine) or fishing line

The nail/paperclip is consumed, while the string/fishing line loses some of its durability.

The fishing rod doesn't lose durability when used for fishing.
