The sledgehammer is a heavy melee weapon. Large and weighty, it cannot be used at all if the player is over-encumbered. Due to its weight it will very quickly exhaust the player; on a positive note it appears to kill zombies in one hit.

Sledgehammers also break down walls. As of now (version .2o) this secondary use is managed like one does with a barricade. The player selects it in their inventory, then, while the sledgehammer icon is still stuck to the mouse cursor, click on the wall. When done correctly, this will destroy the wall.
