Build 42, also known as the Hunting update, is one the oldest planned updates, behind NPCs (Kate & Baldspot) and the Louisville map expansion, mentioned as early as October 2012. The addition of hunting has been a priority for The Indie Stone, however hasn't been feasable until the animation overhaul (build 41). The hunting update will be the first iteration of the new AI code created by Lemmy.

The main features include the additon of wildlife roaming the countryside, including deer, mice/rats, feral dogs and more, along with complimentary mechanics, such as expanding trapping. Further features include those that could not be added in Build 41, such as improved fire graphics/mechanics and potentially a ranged combat overhaul.
