When reclaimed, all fuel currently inside of the campfire will be lost, even if it was not burned. Items inside of its inventory, such as food, will be spilled onto the ground and can still be collected.
A campfire may be picked up and placed elsewhere, or left on the ground to re-ignite later. It is unnecessary to extinguish the campfire before picking it up. Any items inside the campfire will be placed on the ground if it is picked up, but any remaining fuel will be lost, even if it was never ignited.

Template:General Campfires are a heat source created using a campfire kit. Once lit, they can be used to cook food. Be warned, both zombies and human survivors can be set on fire if they stand too close to the fire! According to one of the PZ developers, the best suggestion for what to do if caught on fire is to run around for a short time.[1]

As shown below, different items can be used to light campfires. It is possible to 'add fuel' using the right click menu on a placed campfire in order to keep it lit for different lengths of time. Kindlings don't work every time, and can break after a few tries. Firemen have a better chance of lighting a campfire with kindling. Lighters or matches plus fuel are more reliable.

The campfire acts like a container on the ground. Uncooked food can be dragged from your inventory into the container. It will cook if the fire has been lit. You should keep an eye on while it cooking.

Fuel

There are different types of fuels that can be added to a campfire that will allow it to burn. The kindling's burn time will be added as fuel when the fire is started and is not lost.
