Noise attracts all zombies in a general proximity towards the player's presence. Some actions generate more noise than others, and therefore are more dangerous to preform. There are many actions which make noise that will attract zombies include:
- Fortifying a door or window with a barricade.
- Running.
- Walking
- Sneaking (very little)
- Firing a pistol
- Chopping a tree
- Shouting to a NPC
- Smashing Windows and Doors and Walls
- Placing doors, walls, crates, barricades, door pieces, and window pieces
- Firing a shotgun.
- Knocking down a door.
- Setting off a fire alarm.
- Other zombies knocking at a door.
- Sneezing and coughing.
