The main character of the in-game tutorial is a balding, middle-aged man of about average height and weight. His official name (as seen in the health status window) is Bob Smith. Bob Smith, comically coined as "Baldspot Bob" or simply "Baldspot" is the only playable charater in the main tutorial story mode, but character creation is possible in the sandbox mode. In the character creation dialogue box, any player character can be fashioned. The player has one of many professions, and wanders the lonely streets looking to survive. He scavenges food, medicine, and ammunition from wherever it's available, and interacts with the environment. Depending on the situation, the player can be seen crafting structures or destroying them, killing zombies or fleeing them, and interacting with other survivors of The Event (Zombie Apocalypse).
