Condado de Knox, popularmente conhecido como Knox County, é em partes uma área ficticia, onde ocorrem os eventos de Project Zomboid. O mapa é baseado no mundo real, em volta do Fort Knox e Louisville ao norte de Kentucky, USA. Knox County conta com recriações de lugares reais Muldraugh, West Point, Dixie Mobile Park, March Ridge, e Louisville. Algumas cidades só existem em Project Zomboid, como: Rosewood e Riverside.
Knox County sempre foi igual, uma região rural tranquila. Ou era, até o momento em que as pessoas começaram a se transformar em zumbis, após o começo do Evento Knox. Temendo uma grande propagação da doença, o governo dos Estados Unidos da América criou uma zona de exclusão em Knox, colocando o condado em uma quarentena que impossibilitava a evasão de informações.
