To start tailoring, the player must have a [[needle]], [[thread]] and fabric - which can be either [[Ripped Sheets|ripped sheets]], [[Denim Strips|denim strips]] or [[Leather Strips|leather strips]].
The tailoring skill is used to repair and fortify clothes to increase their protection against scratches, bites, and bullets.

Right-click and item of clothing and ''Inspect'', to display the condition of the clothing. Holes can be patched, by right-clicking the corresponding bodypart, or add padding.
==Basic requirements==

The equipment below is required to start tailoring:

Currently, there are three different fabrics the player is able to use, all with varying effectiveness for padding and patching.

*Material (Cloth, Denim, or Leather)


1.) Ripped Sheets - Provide a defence value of 1% scratch defence for every 2 levels of tailoring, totalling 5% scratch protection at level 10 tailoring.
Optionally:
*1 pair of [[File:Scissors.png|link=Sicssors]] [[scissors]] is required to rip clothes made with denim or leather in order to obtain [[Denim Strips|denim strips]] and [[Leather Strips|leather strips]].


2.) Denim Strips - Improvement over the Sheets, and easier to come by, they provide a 1% bite defence every 2 levels of tailoring, and 2% scratch defence for every two levels of tailoring, totalling 5% bite Defence and 10% scratch Defence.
Note that the [[Suture Needle|suture needle]] cannot be used for tailoring.


3.) Leather Strips - Hardest to come by, providing 2% bite defence, and 4% scratch defence for every 2 levels of tailoring, totalling 10% bite defence and 20% scratch defence at level 10.
===Fabrics===
There are 3 types of fabrics currently in Project Zomboid. They are all obtainable through ripping or cutting clothes.

With level 8 tailoring skill and when using the appropriate fabric on the clothing, the clothing can be restored instead of simply having padding added on top of a hole. This allows padding to also be added on top as well. This will not work on clothing that has been sufficiently damaged, nor clothing that cannot be repaired/patched (such as sneakers), nor special material clothing (such as firefighter pants).

*At level 8 tailoring, you will be able to repair holes completely with the right kind of fabric, restoring the clothes' original defense, condition, and insulation. Tailoring is a crafting skill.

The tailoring skill is used to repair and fortify clothes to increase their protection against scratches, bites, and bullets.

Basic requirements

Equipment

The equipment below is required to start tailoring:

  • Material (Cloth, Denim, or Leather)

Note that the suture needle cannot be used for tailoring.

Fabrics

There are 3 types of fabrics currently in Project Zomboid. They are all obtainable through ripping or cutting clothes.

Tailoring

To start tailoring, right-click a clothing and right-click Inspect to display the condition of the clothing. Holes can be patched and paddings can be added by right-clicking the corresponding body part.

  • Some items like shoes and bulletproof vests cannot be repaired.
  • Adding padding will increase the defense of a clothing item.
  • Simply patching a hole will not fully restore its condition.
  • Denim or leather padding gives more tailoring exp than ripped sheet padding.
