Foraging is not a reliable way to find clothing, though foraging in the right zone can improve the odds of finding clothes somewhat. Socks are classified as an uncommon drop among clothes spawned via foraging. Like all clothes, socks can be foraged on any kind of floor tile, unlike berries, for example, which are limited to natural tiles such as grass.
