A bandage is an item used in first aid.

A medical bandage that is found in medical buildings and is used to treat injuries that break the skin and cause bleeding.
Usage
First Aid

Bandages and Ripped Sheets are both interchangeable when bandaging wounds. However Ripped Sheets have only half the bandaging power that Medical Bandages utilise and therefore do not last as long.
Basic usage
A bandage is primarily used to stop the player from bleeding, by applying it to the wound. It can be used on various injuries, including wounds and burns. After some time, depending on the wound and player's First Aid skill, the bandage will become a dirty bandage, which once removed will grant the player some first aid experience.

If a wound is left untreated, the player will slowly lose health and will eventually die of blood loss. Open wounds also have a good chance of becoming infected. Bandaging a wound stops bleeding completely, the player will start regaining health, and the chance of an infection is reduced. Bandages eventually become dirty when left on, and a dirty bandage has a higher chance of becoming infected than a clean bandage so it is in the player's best interest to remove the dirty bandage and reapply a clean one. You can disinfect a bandage prior to putting it on by soaking it in disinfectant or alcohol, which further reduces the chances of the wound becoming infected.
Wound infection
If a bleeding wound is left untreated, the player will continue to lose health until they eventually die. Leaving a wound untreated can also lead to it becoming infected depending on the player's clothing, the type of wound and whether a dirty bandage is left on. A dirty bandage can be left on a wound to stop the bleeding, however this will give the wound the highest possible chance of becoming infected. Wound infections do not affect the recovery time, threfore, since not having any bandage applied stops healing, it is reccomended to not remove badages, even if they get dirty.

Clean vs Dirty Bandage
An infected wound can be treated by applying a sterilized bandage to the wound. Sterilized bandages have the same rate of becoming dirty as regular bandages, but they improve the healing rate when used.
After a certain amount of time, a bandage will become a dirty bandage and will lose its prevention to infection, and in turn will increase the chance of infection over a regular bandage, and will need to be replaced.

Bandages can be washed with water once dirty to return them to a clean state.
Types of wounds
In most cases, applying a bandage, whether it be sterilized or not, increases the rate of healing. The only exception to this rule are stitches. Applying a bandage to a stitch will actually decrease the healing rate, therefore taking longer to heal.

A bandage is an item used in first aid.

Usage

Main article: First Aid

Basic usage

A bandage is primarily used to stop the player from bleeding, by applying it to the wound. It can be used on various injuries, including wounds and burns. After some time, depending on the wound and player's First Aid skill, the bandage will become a dirty bandage, which once removed will grant the player some first aid experience.

An infected wound can be treated by applying a sterilized bandage to the wound. Sterilized bandages have the same rate of becoming dirty as regular bandages, but they improve the healing rate when used.

Types of wounds

In most cases, applying a bandage, whether it be sterilized or not, increases the rate of healing. The only exception to this rule are stitches. Applying a bandage to a stitch will actually decrease the healing rate, therefore taking longer to heal.
